Exploring beauty: strawberries

If you were thinking about fruits, then you are wrong.

Huge, like strawberries lips are beautiful.

The only person who has this puchero delicioso its Spanish model Esther Cañadas.

Así que aquí hay un poco de inspiración…

And then, when I was looking closely to the images, I thought that they do actually resemble real strawberries, as they look in the inside.

Exploring beauty: Strong noses

Mother nature is a very wise lady, she gives everyone exactly what they need.

So that is why strong noses are so gorgeous, they are a powerful and a signature in many cases.

I’m against nose surgery. It takes away all of the uniqueness of a face. I can compare it to someone trying to shape all the mountains to look the same… nonsense!

Exploring beauty: Androgyny

An androgynous person has both, female and male features. According to Plato, they used to exist three sexes, females, males and androgynous.

This primitive beings had two faces in one head, also four ears … They used to feel so powerful that they tried to climb the Olympus and challenge Zeus, so he decided to teach them a lesson, tearing them apart. So he split them in halves.

Here is an extract of Plato’s theory:

“Each of us, when separated, having one side only, like a flat fish, is but, the identure of a man, and is always looking for his other half….and when one of them meets with his other half, the actual half of himself……..the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy, and one will not be out of the other’s sight, as I may say, even for a moment; these are the people who pass their whole lives together; yet they could not explain what they desire of one another. For the intense yearning which each of them has for the other does not appear to be the desire of lovers’ intercourse, but of something else which the soul of either evidently desires and cannot tell, and of which she has only a dark and doubtful presentiment.”

Plato, “The Symposium,” Benjamin Jowet, trans., Great Books of the Western World, Chapter 7, page 157.

So why does androgynous features fascinates us?

I think it’s because it has the strenght of the male ones and the sensuality of the female at the same time. Women feel secure about their masculine side and viceversa.

Another beautiful contradiction that has inspired fashion since forever:

Exploring beauty: Drag Queen

A man dresses and acts as a woman, but he is not only dressing he is transforming himself.

Being a Drag Queen seems to be fascinating, it’s not just about clothes and make up, even though I have been always inspired by this flamboyant aesthetics.

It’s mostly about attitude, a Drag Queen it’s a woman that LOVES being one.

A woman that is not afraid of making any kind of joke, dances all night long, she is not ashamed to flirt with everyone in the room, she is proud of the way she looks and isn’t afraid to show it.

Drag Queens are men that seem to be born again in a different body and soul.

Exploring beauty: tatuajes

Tattoos are one way to express ideas, they have been part of many cultures, from a long time ago.

They have also had thousands of interpretations and studies

In many cases, a tattoo is an ornament, but still, we want them in our body in a permanent way. For many people are symbols, it represents something important in our lives.

A tattoo is at the end a scar, isn’t one of those scars that life give us as a surprise. We choose this one.

We choose to carry a scar with a meaning, an intention, a message.

¿What message?

Exploring beauty: the Padaung women

“Beauty is a manifestation of secret natural laws, which otherwise would have been hidden from us forever”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Beauty is subjective, each one of us has a different idea of what he or she considers beautiful.

It has been said that the beauty relies in the eyes of the beholder.

A beauty concept also changes from one culture to another, and its expressed on how people uses ornaments, and glorifies certain parts of the body, it’s a lot more complex than it seems.

To explore this concepts it’s a very eye opening experience

This is the first post that will expose the different expressions for beauty around the world.

The Kayan are a tribe located in Burma, they have a small group called Padaung, many women of this tribe are called giraffe women because they use neck rings to lengthen it

They start wearing the rings at the age of five, and continue adding rings as long as they bodies are growing.

Anthropologists have different theories about the reason for women to start wearing this collars,

For many women in the tribe collars are beautiful, and they continue wearing them to preserve their culture.
